Heck yes.
Boing Boing: Joe Rogan rants on the beauty of DMT
I don’t usually recommend MP3s of TV stars talking about doing drugs with lots of swearing, but this is key, esp. via the internet tabloid boing boing. Boing boing doesn’t seem to get it, but Joe Rogan clearly shows why he was such a key element in News Radio. And why fear factor is so silly.
He knows more about DMT than the average bear. In classic boing boing style (or just internet first post style) the mp3 is not listened to prior to posting and the context of his comments on LA is completely ignored. I guess most people just aren’t on the right wavelength or sumpin’. This mp3 is intense, not really for people under 17 though.
Finally if you snoop around the directory the mp3 is in you’ll find a way too detailed timeline of the movie Primer. Which I liked on one level, but general thought was mediocre entertainment.
Oh and finally Joe Rogan lives in LA, which seems obvious.
(edit)
Ok ok, so I emailed the poster of the story Xeni Jardin and she wrote back saying she didn’t intentionally make him sound like he hated LA. I still think it kinda comes across that way without the lead in. I think at this point I have spent a bit too much time on the subject.

Ok, but seriously, Mr. Rogan was on KROQ’s loveline as guest co-host and someone called in about DMT. Crazy. He basically gave a similar rant, but more subdued thanks to the FCC. Thanks to Dan for calling me up and telling me to listen in.

whoah. that was like, a combination of locker room talk, and an intense scene from Waking Life.
i hope this conference call i’m about to get into goes well… i feel like i’ve actually dropped after listening to that. O_O
It does make you wanna wait for the Fear Factor Amsterdam edition. “They’re just mushrooms!”
Duuuuuuuuuuude…………….uh…so…humans are yeast, bacteria. I dig it. But here’s what I posit: some bacteria have other, “higher” purposes, right? Like, penicillium can cure diseases in higher life forms, right? Yeast can make bread or wine. You think that maybe there’s some other, “higher” purpose than just breeding? Like there’s some reason for us to be around?
Sometimes I wonder if all life is just some kinda crazy fractal structure, like everything on a tiny scale replicates on a larger one — the planet is an atom, the solar system is a molecule….etc…you get the picture.
Anyway yeah, maybe I should get a tank and do some DMT. Sometime…
Yeah, Ethan, since when are you so into CapsLock? Man, yeah, fractals generally self similar structures have really neat connections to thermodynamics which as Einstein once said:
“A theory is the more impressive the greater the simplicity of its premises, the more different kinds of things it relates, and the more extended its area of applicability. Therefore the deep impression that classical thermodynamics made upon me. It is the only physical theory of universal content which I am convinced will never be overthrown, within the framework of applicability of its basic concepts.” — A. Einstein
Albert Einstein, quoted in M.J. Klein, Thermodynamics in Einstein’s Universe, in Science, 157 (1967), p. 509. (from here)
So yeah… also what’s up with the google ads I put on this site. I don’t see a single one that has anything to do with the topic at hand!
I don’t think Rogan was comparing humanity to bacteria negatively. The comparison did remind me, however, of the song Cancer by Filter:
Take a look at L.A.
From the sky
What you see
Should make you cry
I’m the scum of the earth
I am a cancer
I am humanity
